About Us
The Weder family immigrated to Canada in 1975, from Switzerland in search of some adventure. Our intent was never really to stay, but somewhere along the way we fell in love with the land and the opportunities it offered. Our family was always in love with the mountains and coming from a country where the "hills are alive with the sound of music" it would have been the ideal choice. However, "…you can't milk the mountains…" was a commonly heard saying said by our father and eventually that reality saw the family start a dairy farm in rural Alberta. There was always an abundance of work, but it also provided the best possible environment for instilling the importance of teamwork and traditional work ethics within our family.
We rediscovered Radium Hot Springs in 1995, immediately falling in love with the area and the idea of owning our own motel. The Gateway became our diamond in the ruff and with the ongoing help of the Weder clan we have been able to gradually transform our little motel in the mountains into the vision we had all along.
We love living in the Columbia Valley and enjoy sharing it's many treasures with our guests!
